Each year, millions of articles of clothing are recalled due to failure to meet federal mandatory standards of fabric flammability. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that fabric may ignite readily and it presents a serious risk of burn injuries in violation of the federal Flammable Fabrics Act. Fabrics that do not comply with the standard typically burn faster than newspaper.
